What is Selective Test Thinking Skills?

Thinking Skills is a brand-new subject included in the Selective Test. It has replaced General Ability in 2020. Selective Test Thinking Skills measure the ability of the students in problem-solving and critical thinking.

When it comes to the questions of Thinking Skills, students will be provided with an argument or situation.

Is Thinking Skills Important in Selective Test?

Thinking Skills are one of the four subjects in the Test. There are 40 questions and have to be completed within 40 minutes.

Schools don’t offer training on Thinking Skills. So, students do not have a way to learn or practice from their school. Additionally, their school marks, unlike Mathematics and English, have no contribution to the result of the test.

Under Selective Test’s new structure, the total calculated placement score is 120. The maximum possible score for Thinking Skills is 35. It is 29% of the total score. Without the school result contributing to it, all score results are based on the one-time performance in the Selective School Test.

Types of Questions in Thinking Skills

Based on the sample paper, these are the ones-

  •       Logical Reasoning: It is the major part of the paper, and there are two types of them- visual and statement reasoning. Logical reasoning has the maximum number of questions.
  •       Mathematical Calculation: These are similar to regular mathematical questions.
