Latest Update on SelectiveTrial Score Calculator for NSW Selective Test 2025

Securing a spot for oneself in for the prestigious Selective High Schools of NSW is not an easy task! Well, if you really are to get one for yourself/your child, it does need a lot of motivation, dedication, hard work, focus and guided preparation. Students planning to get into the NSW Selective Schools through Year 7 entry have to appear for the highly competitive entrance test, i.e, the NSW Selective Test.

What are the Selective High Schools?

These NSW Selective High Schools are government aided schools offering specially developed and highly challenging academic programs catering to the intellectual needs of the academically gifted students. The Selective Schools have top-notch educational infrastructure, experienced faculty and specially designed teaching and learning methods to facilitate a stimulating learning environment and experience.

Entry to these Selective High Schools in NSW can only be secured by appearing for the NSW Selective Test. What makes this test so hard to get through is the very limited seat availability against the number of applications. To be very precise, there are approximately only 4248 seats  available for Year 7 entry.

Key Updates of NSW Selective Test 2025

The upcoming NSW Selective Test 2025 has undergone significant milestone changes. Here’s the latest updates that will impact the test-taking experience of the appearing candidates:

• Computer-based Testing: The most prominent change is the transition from paper-based to computer-based testing. This aims to provide a more engaging, seamless, accelerated and efficient test-taking experience. Also to ensure fairness and security, multiple versions of the test will be administered over several days.
• Equal Weighting: The four sections of the test, i.e, Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Writing will now have equal weightage. This means that each section will contribute 25% to the overall score. Hence, students will need to allocate equal time and effort to all sections, rather than focusing solely on specific areas.

In the recent past, with the weighting changes the score calculation method too has changed. Thus, the parents need to be well aware of the method of score calculation and the updated cut-off marks for the different Selective Schools.
