Naplan Test 2023: Everything to Know About the New Changes
By Post Author | 16th Sep, 2022
If you appear for the NAPLAN test 2023, then this article is for you. Before you prepare yourself, make sure you note all the changes that will be effective from 2023 onwards. Before discussing the new changes, let’s quickly go through what NAPLAN is.
What is the NAPLAN Test?
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a test designed for assessing a student’s numeracy and literacy skills. It provides a holistic view of how students are performing. Besides providing parents a view of their child’s performance, it also gives the monitoring authorities an overview of how Australian students perform in numeracy and literacy.
The National Assessment Program has introduced new changes to this exam. Earlier, it has already shifted from paper-based exams to NAPLAN online. But now, they have brought more amendments to offer support for students, parents, and schools.
Let’s now take a look.
Naplan Test Changes in 2023
If you appear for the NAPLAN 2023 exams, here is the list of changes you must be aware of.
- NAPLAN will now take place in Term 1 instead of Term 2. Bringing the test forward will put more information in advance in the teacher’s hands, thus providing more targeted support for students.
- NAPLAN for Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 will commence the writing test on 15th March 2023.
- ACARA has also announced new updates on device requirements. As per this amendment, the older OS versions will still be able to access the online Naplan tests, however, if the OS is an older version than that mentioned in the device requirement list, then the matter will most likely not be investigated by the national helpdesk.
- Any school can now take part in the NAP sample assessments. The idea is to provide extra information through these assessments to show teachers how students gain essential knowledge in essential subject areas.
- New subjects are introduced for the NAPLAN test 2023. Science will be added in 2024, Civics and Citizenship from 2025, and Digital Literacy in 2026.
