The full set of question papers includes all types of questions similar to the real-time exam. Selective Trials follows the current new format. Our highly qualified subject experts — high-scoring ATAR tutors and selective-school graduates — created these papers. All tests are time-managed, so each student gets the same feeling as the real Australian tests. After each test, students can review and revise all questions with feedback and thorough explanations, including detailed worked solutions.
We recommend every student start with revision questions first, then slowly progress to the Time-Scored Question Bank. As per the NSW and Australian Curriculum, our revision question bank covers all chapters and is organised accordingly. If your child gets a particular question wrong, they can practise similar questions again.
Alongside the trial questions, we provide one-to-one personalised tutoring to clear concepts where students struggle on a topic. This online classroom is fully equipped with an advanced whiteboard, audio-video and screen-sharing capabilities.
Students log into their own Selective Trials account, go to the course and submit their writing test. Each writing test is evaluated in detail by our experienced Australian English tutors as per the Australian Curriculum.
Without feedback, it is impossible to get the same question right next time without help. Feedback is crucial for building your child's stamina — and for finding out why a question was missed and fixing it. Parents can view the student's performance relative to peers, and see results per question type and topic.
Understand and interpret written information — main idea, author's purpose, supporting arguments and inference from context.
Critical thinking and language — synonyms and antonyms, analogies, logical relationships and sentence structure.
Interpret and analyse numerical information — data tables and charts, word problems, number series and estimation.
Knowledge and problem-solving — algebra, geometry, probability and statistics, and trigonometry for higher levels.
Clear, well-organised essays — present an argument, write a narrative/descriptive piece, or respond to a scenario.
Edutest is an independent scholarship and entrance testing organisation that conducts scholarship and entrance tests for a range of schools throughout Australia. Edutest also has practice tests available so students can familiarise themselves with and prepare for the examinations.
The registration process — including applications and payments — is completed online. Click on the school you wish to apply to and follow the prompts on the school's website. For registrations to more than one school, a separate payment must be made to every school for which the student is registered.
Generally, a student is only required to sit one test in Semester 1 and one in each of Terms 3 and 4. Most schools are part of the results-transfer process. If multiple schools have been applied for, the student must sit at the school with the earliest test date; their results are then transferred by Edutest to subsequent schools applied to within that testing cycle.
Some schools do not share results. In these instances, students may be required to sit multiple tests within the testing cycle — this is highlighted in the special conditions for those schools.
Parents must use the same email address for all applications.

We have built a high-quality practice question bank for Edu Test with the help of previous test papers, curriculum and sample papers published by Edutest. Practising questions on our platform gives students confidence about the question pattern, what kind of questions can be asked, the standard of questions, and how much time it takes — all essential to score well.
They can easily understand the structure and pattern of the test while practising similar tests for unlimited time across Reading, Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and Writing Expression.
Our subject-matter experts and qualified teachers have thoroughly analysed every question pattern and difficulty level, creating a comprehensive question bank where students can explore their performance and make the needed variations to avoid the same errors in the actual exam. The real Edutest Scholarship Tests are used across Australia to identify academically able students and are designed to finely rank the top end of performance. The tests are not curriculum-based and do not test the ability to retrieve learned knowledge.
A scholarship test allows students to be admitted to well-known private schools at a minimum cost. If students apply to sit for a scholarship, they might be advised it will be an Edutest scholarship exam. Authorities in Australia conduct three major tests: ACER, Edutest and Academic Assessment Services. The Real Edu Test is one of the well-known hard exams for a scholarship.
In our Free Trial, we give students the feel of an actual time-scored exam, with similar questions on Reading, Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and Writing Expression for entry into Years 9 and 10. Students can see a detailed explanation of each question. Our free trial is a short test where your child gets a combination of humanities and mathematics together. Start the free trial →
The EduTest has five sections split between Ability and Achievement:
Registration: Register online through each school's website by creating an EduTest account, adding the student, and paying the required fees (one fee per school). If a student is taking exams for multiple schools on the same date, their results can be shared among participating schools.
Timing:
Effective strategies include:
The EduTest Scholarship Test is a competitive academic exam used by independent and private schools across Australia to identify high-performing students for academic scholarships, selective entry programs, and accelerated or gifted programs. It is designed and administered by EduTest, a Melbourne-based educational assessment provider.
🎯 Purpose: The test assesses both Achievement (how well students have mastered curriculum skills — Maths, Reading, Writing) and Ability (how well students reason and solve problems using logic — Verbal and Numerical Reasoning).
Edutest practice helps students become familiar with the test format, question types and timing strategies. It also builds confidence, sharpens reasoning skills, and identifies strengths and weaknesses to focus on before the scholarship test.
Edutest practice tests usually include Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics and Written Expression. Practising across these sections ensures balanced preparation.
Ideally, students should begin Edutest practice 3 to 6 months before the test. Regular short sessions are more effective than last-minute cramming, allowing time for skill development and review of mistakes.
Since the Edutest is a timed exam, practice tests train students to pace themselves. By simulating real exam conditions, they learn to allocate time wisely, complete all sections, and avoid spending too long on a single question.
Yes. School exams focus on curriculum-based learning, while Edutest practice tests assess critical thinking, problem-solving and reasoning ability. That's why specific Edutest practice is essential for success.
Absolutely. In the Written Expression section, students are judged on clarity, structure, grammar and originality. Edutest practice helps refine essay writing by focusing on well-structured arguments and accurate language use.
Parents can access structured Edutest practice tests and plans from trusted platforms like Selectivetrial, which provide updated resources tailored for Year 7 & Year 8 students.
