Introduction

Victorian Selective Entry High School offers excellent education for high-achieving students in Years 9 to Year 12. So, Year 8 students will be able to apply for the exam.

The competitive 5-part test decides if a student will get into one of the four prestigious public selective schools. These schools are-

  • Melbourne High School
  • Suzanne Cory High School
  • Nossal High School

However, there is a striking change this year. Previously, the test paper was customized by Edutest. But now, from 2023, the test will be written by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). They will centralize the selection process for the Department of Education.

Victoria Selective High School entrance exam will include-
1. General Ability: Verbal, Writing, and Quantitative
General ability tasks assess the ability of students to learn in each of the areas that are being tested by letting students demonstrate their higher-order problem-solving and thinking skills.

2. Reasoning in Mathematics, Reading
It assesses the ability of students to use their academic and life skills and knowledge and apply them to tasks and problems using the details provided in the test.

    Selective Test Categories

    Students have 35 minutes to complete the test. The questions are based on a diverse range of texts and assess a range of reading skills.
