ACER Style Test

Scholarship Tests are designed to identify and support educationally gifted students through scholarships across Australia.

Participants must demonstrate a broad spectrum of skills, including comprehension, inference, deduction, and critical thinking. The tests go beyond the curriculum; they are not meant to assess rote knowledge or analytical skills.

Our  tests for the practice Scholarship are categorised into two main levels:

A. For the Primary Level (for entry into Years 4, 5, or 6)
B. For the Secondary Level (for entry into Years 7 to 10—Levels 1, 2)

Primary Level Tests:

At the primary level, candidates undertake three tests:

The Reading and Viewing Test is a 30-minute multiple-choice questionnaire with 25 questions, evaluating students’ comprehension and interpretation of written and visual content across various subjects.
The mathematics test, also in multiple-choice format, spans 30 minutes with 20 questions. It assesses students’ mathematical reasoning and their ability to perform basic operations.
The writing test gives students 40 minutes to craft two short written responses to separate prompts, focusing on the quality of ideas and language use.
Secondary Level Tests:

For the secondary level, there are four parts to the test:

The Written Expression test provides 25 minutes for students to engage in creative writing, responding to two different prompts that allow for varied writing styles. Rather than length, the emphasis is on the quality of expression and ideas.
Students are evaluated on their understanding of thought and content, structure and organisation, and expression and style. Responses must be grounded in the provided stimulus, whether visual, textual, or a combination, and can inspire various forms of writing—from storytelling to argumentative essays.
Candidates are advised to carefully consider each prompt and spend time planning their responses to showcase their writing talents and expressive abilities effectively. It’s essential to produce writing that is vibrant, communicative, and engaging, capturing the reader’s interest and imagination.

Humanities – Comprehension and Interpretation, which is MCQ based, and you will get 40 minutes in this part. This test inquires you to answer questions associated with written and visual material. The material may be connected with subject areas such as English, Art, History, Geography and Social Studies. Students are essential to think judgmentally and judge different types of texts, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, diagrams and maps. The quiz contains several units with several questions in each unit. Overall, there will be between 40 and 45 multiple-choice questions, each with four alternative answers, marked A, B, C, and D.

 Mathematics: This exam efforts to measure mathematical and scientific skills rather than school success in these zones. The material used for the questions is selected from various sources and may differ from standard school-based curriculum materials. It can be divided into two parts Mathematics skills tested (Levels 1, 2 ) and Scientific skills tested (Levels 2 only ). The test involves between 32 and 36 multiple-choice questions.
