se the time to plan and make notes only.

You have 5 minutes to plan your piece and 30 minutes of writing time.  Your planning will not be assessed.

The student must select each writing task and submit it in Word or PDF. Each piece of writing will be marked within three to four working days after submission.  Students should submit four writings at any time during the 90 days of the subscription, and the last submission is not before seven days after the course ends.

What is HAST

HAST conducts for entries into Top Schools from Year 7 to Year 12

Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST) is a skill test used by secondary schools to classify academically talented students for enhanced learning and enhancement programs. The test draws upon ACER’s extensive experience in high-stakes testing programs for schools, such as the Selective High School Placement Test in New South Wales, the Ignite program in South Australia and the Queensland Academies Student Entrance Test.

What is the HAST level?

The HAST program brings laborious tests in reading comprehension, mathematical reasoning, abstract reasoning, and written expression at all secondary school levels, including first level entry.

HAST testing is available at High School Year 6 Students for Year 7 Entry, Junior Secondary Year 7 Students for Year 8 Entry, Middle Secondary Year 8 and Year 9 students for Year 9 and Year 10 Entries and Senior Secondary Year 10 Entry and Year 11 Students for  Year 11 and Year 12 Entries.

The candidate’s current year level determines the choice of test level at the time of the HAST test, not the candidate’s age.
